Green Med Expo & Symposium 2026: AM Group presents concrete solutions for the circular economy and environmental sustainability

From 27 to 29 May, AM Group participated in the Green Med Expo & Symposium in Naples, one of the main Italian events dedicated to environmental sustainability, circular economy and innovation in the green sector.

The group’s presence represented an important opportunity to share a clear vision with institutions, companies and citizens: waste is not waste, but a resource that can generate environmental, social and economic value when it is managed correctly.

Through the companies of the group – LEM Group, Open Swm Srl, Open Swm Ltd and Ecology Logistics Malta – AM Group presented projects and initiatives that concretely demonstrate how the ecological transition can become a tangible reality for communities, businesses and territories.

A new model for the collection of small WEEE

Among the main innovations presented during the Green Med Expo is the new container dedicated to the collection of small WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).

Every year, millions of small electronic devices end up in unsorted waste or are stored unnecessarily in homes because citizens do not know where to dispose of them correctly.

To meet this need, AM Group has developed a collection system that aims to install dedicated containers in strategic points of the city, making it easier and more accessible to dispose of smartphones, chargers, small appliances, cables and other electronic devices.

The objective is twofold: to increase the collection rates of WEEE and to recover precious materials that can be reintroduced into production cycles, reducing the environmental impact and promoting the circular economy.

From used oil to renewable energy

Another central theme of participation in the Green Med Expo was the collection service for used cooking oils developed by the group both in Italy and in Malta.

It is a virtuous supply chain that makes it possible to transform highly polluting waste into a renewable energy resource through the production of biodiesel.

In Malta, the service is mainly aimed at the hotel and catering sector, while in Italy it involves both the Ho.Re.Ca sector. and condominiums that choose to install special containers to allow residents to properly dispose of domestic cooking oil.

The initiative represents a concrete example of an applied circular economy, capable of generating immediate environmental benefits and raising awareness among citizens and businesses on the importance of separate waste collection.

“Creative Recycling”: when sustainability meets fashion

Great interest was also aroused by the “Creative Recycling” project, developed by AM Group in collaboration with the stylist Pasquale Bilancio.

The initiative was created with the aim of raising public awareness on the issues of environmental pollution and proper waste management through an innovative and immediate language: fashion.

The campaign, carried out in the streets of Naples, saw the creation of a collection of clothes made using recovered materials destined for waste. Paper, plastic, electronic components, fabrics and other recycled materials have been transformed into artistic works capable of telling real environmental problems and stimulating a collective reflection on the value of waste.

The message behind the project is simple but powerful: every waste has a value that can be recovered through responsible behavior, innovation and creativity.

Also presented at the Green Med Expo, the project confirmed how environmental awareness can pass through forms of communication capable of directly involving people and the new generations.

The group’s environmental results in 2025

The projects presented during the event are confirmed by the results achieved by the group during 2025.

Thanks to the collection and valorization of used cooking oil, AM Group has collected over 5.1 million kilograms of used oil, contributing to the production of over 5.2 million liters of biodiesel.

This process has made it possible to avoid over 10,200 net tons of CO₂ emissions and generate more than 48,000 MWh of equivalent renewable energy.

Also in the organic fraction collection sector, the group achieved significant results with over 38 million kilograms collected, which contributed to the production of biogas and renewable biomethane, avoiding further climate-changing emissions and generating over 32,000 MWh of equivalent renewable energy.

In addition to these results, the production of energy from photovoltaic systems confirms the group’s commitment to an increasingly sustainable energy model aimed at reducing environmental impact.

Looking to the future through innovation

Participation in the Green Med Expo & Symposium 2026 confirmed AM Group’s desire to continue investing in projects that generate concrete benefits for the environment and communities.

From the collection of WEEE to the valorisation of used oils, passing through environmental awareness activities and initiatives related to the circular economy, the group continues its journey with a specific goal: to transform sustainability into a shared and measurable value.

For AM Group, the future of environmental management passes through innovation, collaboration and awareness. Because every properly managed waste can become a new opportunity for the territory, for businesses and for future generations.
